Are you a passionate and experienced PRU Teaching Assistant with a background working in Alternative Provision and SEMH settings looking for your next exciting opportunity? We are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant with a background in Behaviour Mentoring and support as well as experience dealing with challenging behaviour, to join a thriving all through school in Walsall. This is a full-time, ongoing position as a Teaching Assistant, working with both Primary and Secondary school students.

Responsibilities:
As a PRU Teaching Assistant, your role will include:
- Work 1:1 or in small groups with pupils identified as having challenging behaviour.
- Support students in managing emotions, building resilience, and developing appropriate social skills.
- Assist the class teacher in adapting lessons and resources to suit individual pupils.
- Implement and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), and risk assessments.
- Encourage positive behaviour and promote a calm, supportive classroom environment.
- Act as a key adult for pupils, building trusting relationships and offering consistent emotional support.
- Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and relevant professionals.
- Help manage challenging behaviour using appropriate de-escalation techniques and following the school’s behaviour policy.
- Work collaboratively with staff, families, and external professionals (e.g., CAMHS, social services).
Requirements:
- Level 2/3 Award in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent, degree in Psychology or Education – Ideal
- Experience – As an SEMH/PRU Teaching Assistant – Essential
- Empathy & Understanding – A nurturing, patient approach
- Strong Behavioural Management – Calm under pressure, supportive and consistent
- Adaptability & Resilience – Able to meet varied needs across different schools
- Excellent Communication – With pupils, staff, and families
