A fantastic Secondary School in the Borough of Tower Hamlets is looking for a confident and enthusiastic Part-Time Linguistics Graduate Tutor to join their team from September 2026. This role will be offered on either a 2 or 3 day per week basis, making it ideal for a Linguistics Graduate, aspiring Speech and Language Therapist, aspiring English Teacher or graduate looking to gain valuable school-based experience while maintaining some flexibility.
As a Part-Time Linguistics Graduate Tutor, you will work closely with students across KS3 & KS4, supporting pupils with literacy, language development, reading, writing, comprehension, vocabulary, grammar and communication. You will deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions, helping students close gaps in learning and develop stronger confidence across the curriculum.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an aspiring Speech and Language Therapist, English Teacher, EAL Teacher, Literacy Specialist or education professional who is looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive secondary school setting.
Following a successful academic year, there may also be the opportunity to be considered for Teacher Training from September 2027.

Supporting students across KS3 & KS4

Delivering 1:1 and small group language and literacy interventions

Supporting reading, writing, comprehension, spelling, grammar and vocabulary

Helping students improve confidence, communication and independent learning skills

Supporting pupils with EAL, Speech & Language needs and literacy gaps

Working closely with English Teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams

Supporting students with mild SEN, including dyslexia, ADHD, ASD and Speech & Language needs

Part-Time Linguistics Graduate Tutor - Person Specification

Linguistics, English Language, Speech and Language, Psychology, Education or Humanities degree desirable

Strong GCSEs and A Levels across the board

Previous tutoring, mentoring or school-based experience would be beneficial

Confident supporting students with language, literacy and communication

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Patient, encouraging and able to build positive relationships with young people

A genuine passion for education, language development and raising attainment
