Behaviour Support Assistant - Year 5

£110-£120 per day

Long Term Futures is seeking a confident and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to work with a Year 5 pupil in a supportive primary school in Hammersmith & Fulham.
This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with behavioural, social or emotional needs who can provide consistency, structure and positive encouragement throughout the school day. The school is looking for a strong relationship-builder who can help a pupil remain engaged in learning while promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
The successful candidate will become a key part of the pupil's support network, working closelywith the class teacher, SENCo and wider pastoral team.
About the Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated support for a Year 5 pupil who requires additional behavioural and emotional support
- Building a positive and trusting relationship through consistency and encouragement
- Supporting the pupil during lessons, transitions and unstructured times
- Promoting positive behaviour using calm and proactive strategies
- Helping the pupil develop confidence, resilience and self-regulation skills
- Encouraging engagement with learning and classroom routines
- Working collaboratively with teaching staff to implement support plans and strategies
This role would suit someone who remains calm under pressure and enjoys helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Previous experience supporting children with SEMH, behavioural needs, ADHD or ASD
- Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
- Calm, patient and resilient approach
- Experience in education, youth work, mentoring, sports coaching or similar settings welcomed
- Confident supporting pupils who may become dysregulated or disengaged
- Committed to a long-term role from September
