Responsibilities
- Measure clients accurately to determine required alterations or custom fittings
- Cut fabric according to patterns and specifications
- Sew, stitch, and assemble garments using various techniques and tools
- Alter existing clothing items to improve fit or repair damage
- Ensure all garments meet quality standards before delivery or collection
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, including tools and equipment
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding their preferences and expectations
- Keep up-to-date with current fashion trends and tailoring techniques
Skills
- Proven experience in tailoring or dressmaking, with a strong portfolio of work
- Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail
- Proficiency in using sewing machines, pattern cutting tools, and hand sewing techniques
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and patterns accurately
- Strong communication skills for liaising with clients and team members
- Knowledge of different fabrics, textiles, and garment construction methods
