We’re looking for a talented and passionate Sous Chef to assist in leading our kitchen team and help us become a beloved fixture in the local hospitality scene.
Job Brief:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in casual Italian cuisine, particularly in creating exceptional pizzas. As Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in the kitchen, working closely with our Head Chef to ensure the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service.
What you’ll do:
- Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistency and excellence in all dishes.
- Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and control food costs to maximise profitability.
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
- Contribute to menu planning and seasonal adjustments, bringing fresh ideas and trends to our offerings.
- Handle any kitchen-related issues promptly and effectively, maintaining a smooth and efficient operation.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of kitchen staff, providing constructive feedback and support for professional growth.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume, casual Italian restaurant or pizzeria.
- Exceptional culinary skills, particularly in pizza making.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of kitchen operations, inventory management, and food safety standards.
- Creativity and passion for culinary innovation.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is a plus.
