Direct Payments Caseworker – Adult Social Care (Financial Assessment / Direct Payments / Social Care Support)
Location: Blackpool (Community Based with Home Visits)
Contract: Temporary
Hours: Full-Time (37 Hours Per Week)
Pay Rate: Umbrella £21.07 – £23.35 per hour
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday (with home visits and flexible working required)
Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Direct Payments Caseworker to join an Adult Social Care Direct Payments Team. This is a key role supporting adults and children who access care through Direct Payments, ensuring individuals can manage their care packages effectively while promoting independence, choice, and control.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in Adult Social Care, Direct Payments, Financial Assessment, or Social Care Support Work who are confident working with vulnerable service users, managing financial records, and working across multi-agency environments.
Job Purpose
To act as a key point of contact for individuals accessing care through Direct Payments, providing advice, guidance, and practical support to help service users manage their care arrangements, financial records, and support packages. The role involves auditing spend, supporting financial compliance, and promoting independence through effective social care support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an allocated caseload of Direct Payments service users (adults and children)
- Provide advice and guidance on Direct Payments, recruitment, and employment arrangements
- Support individuals to manage their care packages effectively and independently
- Monitor, review, and assess financial records and Direct Payments expenditure
- Use Microsoft Excel and other IT systems to maintain accurate financial and case records
- Carry out home visits to service users and build effective working relationships
- Liaise with Social Workers, external agencies, and partner organisations
- Ensure compliance with Direct Payments legislation and Social Care policies
- Promote the Direct Payments service and support service development activities
- Provide signposting to welfare benefits, payroll services, and financial advice
- Maintain accurate records on social care systems and ensure data integrity
- Support safeguarding processes and escalate concerns where required
- Work independently while prioritising workload and managing deadlines
Candidate Requirements
- Experience working within Adult Social Care, Direct Payments, or Financial Assessment services
- Strong understanding of Direct Payments processes and Social Care legislation (Care Act 2014 desirable)
- Excellent Microsoft Excel and data management skills
- Experience handling sensitive financial and personal information
- Strong communication skills with service users, families, and professionals
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload
- Good understanding of safeguarding principles
- Experience working with vulnerable adults and/or children in a care setting
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to travel for home visits across Blackpool
