Job Overview
Future are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic and committed Facilities Officer with a can do attitude and a commitment to a culture of continuous improvement. The Facilities Officer’s role is key to providing a safe, secure, welcoming and well-maintained Youth Zone for our young people, staff and visitors. They will manage the efficient day-to-day running of the Youth Zone ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations including building, equipment, service contracts, as well as carrying out general maintenance. The Facilities Officer will make sure that the Youth Zone is maintained to a high standard so that it is accessible for all young people every day.

The Facilities Officer plays a critical role in Future’s mission to provide young people with affordable access to fun and inspiring opportunities, all designed to help them lead active, positive lives and raise aspirations. Future Youth Zone’s Facilities Officer is responsible for maintaining our fantastic Youth Zone ensuring compliance and contractual obligations are met whilst sustaining an efficient and operational building.
The post holder will carry out and manage multi-disciplined activities including housekeeping, maintenance, general maintenance duties, security and health and safety. This is a varied role and the ideal candidate will have proven experience of managing similar types of buildings, e.g. schools, colleges/universities, sports or leisure centres or other large, multi-use/function buildings.
Duties
· To be responsible for the general maintenance of the premises including the heating, lighting, plumbing and security systems.
· To carry out minor repairs, maintenance and installation work such as joinery, plumbing, painting and redecorating across the youth zone.
· To carry out periodic inspections and maintain up-to-date supporting records on Opspal.
· To be responsible for all service contracts including the monitoring and servicing of equipment and ensuring Contractor’s responsibilities/tasks are completed within the Service Level Agreement and appropriately documented on Opspal.
· Supervising Contractors when attending the site and carrying out site induction.
· To undertake reactive and planned maintenance, repair and renewal tasks.
· To establish systems, carry out and record all necessary checks including, alarms, lighting, escape route, security, building condition and equipment.
· To identify any defects in the building and arrange for repairs within set budgets.
· To produce building risk assessments and oversee their compliance.
· To manage the BMS system and respond to any issues.
· To set up equipment and facilities for events in the Youth Zone to support youth work staff with their internal and external requirements.
· To be responsible for the buildings entrance and other external areas, ensuring that there is always as excellent first impression of the Youth Zone.
· To prepare rooms and areas for a range of uses, including setting out, removal and storage of furniture and equipment.
· Be responsible for security procedures for the building, facilities, and grounds including security inspections, locking and unlocking perimeters, activate/deactivate automated alarm equipment.
· To be one of the registered key holders and first point of contact on a rota basis for emergency call outs and to check and secure the Youth Zone premises and reset alarm.
· Liaise with third parties in response to alarm as necessary.
· To be flexible and available to attend the Youth Zone at weekends and unsocial hours to deal with emergency repairs or allow access to contractors.
· To manage the cleaning staff team making sure that standards of cleanliness are maintained and assist in cleaning when required.
· To be responsible for the ordering of cleaning equipment and supplies.
· To communicate all facility issues to relevant staff in a clear and timely manner.
· To immediately report any serious hazards to a member of management.
· To carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Chief Executive Officer.
