BSL Teaching Assistants – All Levels Welcome | Full-Time | September Start
Location: South London & surrounding areas
Contract: Full-time, term-time | Permanent and long-term roles available from September
Pay: £110-£130 (umbrella) – dependent on experience and BSL level
Are you fluent in British Sign Language and passionate about supporting Deaf and hard-of-hearing children to thrive?
We're recruiting BSL Teaching Assistants and Communication Support Workers to join specialist provisions and Deaf resource bases across South London and the surrounding areas, ready for a September start. Whether you're at the beginning of your career in Deaf education or you're an experienced communicator, we'd love to hear from you.
We're recruiting at all levels, including:
- BSL Level 1 & 2 holders looking to build a career supporting Deaf learners
- BSL Level 3+ Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants
- Qualified Communication Support Workers (CSWs)
- Anyone with lived experience and strong signing skills keen to work in education
In the role, you'll:
- Support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in lessons, helping them access the curriculum fully
- Facilitate communication between students, staff and peers using BSL
- Work closely with Teachers of the Deaf, SENCOs and class teachers to deliver tailored support
- Build the confidence, independence and wellbeing of the young people you work with
What we're looking for:
- A recognised BSL qualification (Level 1 and above), or equivalent fluency
- Warmth, patience and a genuine commitment to Deaf education
- Experience in a school or with children is welcome but not essential – attitude and signing ability matter most
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
What we offer:
- Roles to suit every level, with routes to develop and upskill
- Supportive specialist settings with experienced Deaf education teams
- A dedicated consultant who genuinely knows your patch and your goals
- Long-term and permanent opportunities, not just supply
Sound like you? Apply today with your CV, or get in touch with Michael Oduniyi at Tempest Resourcing on [email protected] for a friendly, no-pressure chat about what you're looking for this September.
