Expressive Arts Coach – Northdale Day Service
Location: Northdale, Yafforth Road, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL7 0LQ
The role will be primarily based at our Northdale site; however, there may be a requirement to work at our satellite day service ABLE in Colburn.
Contract: 12-month Fixed Term (37.5hrs / week)
Salary: £25,233 / annum
Introduction
Northdale are looking for a passionate and creative Expressive Arts Coach to support adults with learning disabilities to explore their creativity through drama, music, dance, and art activities.
This is a rewarding role where you will help individuals build confidence, independence, and self-expression in a safe and inclusive environment. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver engaging activities and ensure that everyone who attends the service has a positive and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Support adults with learning disabilities to participate in creative activities such as drama, music, dance, and arts & crafts.
- Deliver safe, structured and engaging sessions tailored to individual needs.
- Encourage confidence, independence, and personal development.
- Work with colleagues to create a positive, vibrant, and inclusive atmosphere.
- Support clients with goal setting and progress.
- Ensure activities are delivered in a safe and supportive environment.
- Complete daily contact sheets and activity records.
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- A passion for creativity and the arts.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work patiently and empathetically with adults with learning disabilities.
- Creative skills in drama, music, dance, or arts and crafts.
- Basic IT skills for recording activities and notes.
- Ability to work as part of a supportive team.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or similar).
- Experience working with people with learning disabilities or autism.
- Experience delivering structured activities or workshops.
Training & Development
We are committed to supporting staff development. Successful candidates will:
- Receive training in safeguarding, health & safety, and first aid.
- Complete the Care Certificate within 12 weeks of employment if not already achieved.
