New Formation Education is an Education Recruitment Agency working on behalf of a client school to source this role.
We are seeking dedicated, compassionate and experienced Learning Support Assistants / Teaching Assistants to join a specialist educational setting in Surbiton from September.
These rewarding full-time, term-time only roles involve supporting pupils aged 4–19 with severe and complex learning difficulties. Opportunities are available for both 1:1 support roles and whole-class support roles.
Successful candidates will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence and achieve their full potential within a nurturing and supportive environment.
Trial days and interviews will take place throughout June and July, with successful candidates starting in September.
The Role
- Supporting pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties
- Working closely with teachers, therapists and other support staff
- Assisting pupils with communication, emotional regulation and engagement
- Supporting learning activities both in and outside the classroom
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
- Promoting independence, confidence and wellbeing
- Following individual support plans and behaviour strategies
Person Specification
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Experienced working with children or young people with special educational needs
- Calm, patient and resilient
- Caring, proactive and enthusiastic
- Confident supporting pupils with a range of complex needs
- Strong communicators who work well as part of a team
- Flexible and able to adapt to different classroom environments
- Passionate about supporting children and young people to succeed
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN/SEND is essential
- Experience working with severe and complex learning difficulties is highly desirable
- Ability to commit to a full-time, term-time role
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
