Saunton Break Cafe (The Break) is a company based on Saunton Beach in Braunton, EX33 1LG.
We are looking for weekend cafe assistants to join the team at our friendly beach cafe on Saunton Beach.
Starting immediately until end of September 2026 this is a perfect role for someone who is looking for part-time work for the 2026 season. There is potential for the contract to extend beyond September for the right candidate.
Responsibilities
This is a broad role across the cafe and your duties will be as follows:
- Serving customers in a fast, efficient and friendly manner.
- Taking customer orders and charging accordingly.
- Making and serving hot drinks and ice creams following food hygiene guidelines.
- Ensuring shelves and fridges well stocked, paying attention to rotation of stock.
- Preparing food to go in our busy kitchen.
- Keeping all areas clean and tidy.
- Ensuring high standards of cleanliness in the kitchen and serving areas through assisting with the completion of cleaning schedules and other duties.
- Flexibly able to work both front of house and in the kitchen to suit the needs of the business.
Person Specification
- You must be outgoing and confident and able to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.
- Quick to learn new skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Have an interest in the 'food to go' market.
- Have a great work ethic.
- Flexibilty to cover shifts (holiday/sickness cover).
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Excellent time keeping standards.
- Own transportation due to our location. Please note public transport options are reduced out of season.
- Must be available to work weekends (including bank holidays).
- Applicants must be over 16 years of age.
Experience
- At least 1 years (preferred) experience of working in a busy cafe/catering environment.
- Level 1 or above food hygiene certificate preferred.
- Barista experience preferred but training can be provided.
Hours and Renumeration
- Part-time contract until end of September.
- Working minimum of 2 days per week approx 10-12 hrs per week.
- Additional days and hours available during school holidays.
- Wage exceeds NMW and varies depending on experience.
- Hours may vary each week depending on the weather.
We are a well established traditional beach cafe serving a wide variety of drinks and snacks ranging from teas and barista coffee to award winning pasties and cakes. We also have a large selection of ice creams and cold drinks. With friendly service we offer great value for money next to one of the most impressive beaches in the UK.
Pay: Up to £13.00 per hour
