As a Senior Rolling Stock Engineer, you'll help deliver the trains, technologies and fleet strategies that keep passengers moving safely, efficiently and sustainably. Whether supporting the introduction of new rolling stock, improving the performance of existing fleets, or evaluating emerging technologies, your expertise will directly influence the success of major rail programmes.
Working with train operators, rolling stock owners, manufacturers and government organisations, you'll help solve complex engineering challenges and drive solutions that support decarbonisation, improve reliability, and enhance the passenger experience.

About the opportunity
You'll join a highly regarded rail engineering team delivering strategic advice and technical expertise across the rolling stock lifecycle.
From helping clients procure and introduce new fleets to improving the performance and maintenance of existing vehicles, you'll provide practical solutions to some of the industry's most complex challenges.
You'll be involved in activities such as:
Supporting new rolling stock programmes and fleet introductions
Developing technical requirements and specifications
Conducting engineering assessments and design reviews
Supporting testing, commissioning and acceptance activities
Evaluating innovative rail technologies and future mobility solutions
Advising clients on fleet performance, maintenance and operational readiness
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver successful project outcomes

Here's what you'll need
Proven experience introducing new rolling stock or supporting the maintenance and operation of existing fleets
Strong knowledge of rail vehicles and systems gained with a consultant, operator, manufacturer, or infrastructure manager
Degree, HNC, or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related discipline
Understanding of modern rolling stock systems and an eagerness to learn emerging technologies
Strong customer focus with the ability to lead workstreams or contribute as a key member of a delivery team
A strategic, solution-focused mindset with the ability to adapt and thrive in a changing environment
Willingness to travel across the UK, Ireland and internationally when required
