Job Description:
We are currently recruiting for a Science Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Salisbury from September. This is a school we have worked closely with for a number of years and one that has a strong reputation for supporting graduates and aspiring teachers.
This role is ideally suited to a graduate with a Science degree or strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics who is looking to gain valuable classroom experience, with the opportunity to progress into teacher training should the placement be successful.
You will work closely with the Science department to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping to improve engagement, understanding, and attainment within Science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class support during Science lessons
- Work with small groups and individual students to reinforce learning
- Support students in understanding scientific concepts and practical work
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation and classroom activities
- Help deliver targeted interventions and revision sessions
- Encourage student confidence and engagement within Science
Ideal Candidate:
- Science degree or strong academic background in Science
- Passion for education and supporting young people
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude
- Experience working with young people desirable but not essential
- Interest in progressing into teaching or teacher training
