Job Overview
I am seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Speech Therapist to join an exceptional Mental Health hospital in Gloucestershire. The successful candidate will provide specialised speech and language therapy services to adult male patients, helping them improve communication skills and overcome speech or swallowing difficulties. This role offers an establishment with state of the art high depandancy equipment & well equiped therapy facilities.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ speech, language, and swallowing functions through detailed evaluations.
- Develop tailored therapy plans based on individual needs and clinical assessments.
- Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions to improve communication abilities.
- Monitor patient progress regularly and adjust therapy programmes accordingly.
- Educate patients and their families about speech and language disorders, as well as strategies for improvement.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, psychologists, and occupational therapists to ensure comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in speech therapy techniques and medical research.
Experience
- Proven experience in speech therapy within a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of physiology related to speech production and swallowing mechanisms.
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to speech and communication disorders.
- Experience working with/alongside families.
- Strong understanding of human anatomy as it pertains to speech, voice, and related functions.
- Visible evidence of Professional Development
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases effectively.

- HCPC Registration.
- Must have experience with the assessment and treatment of dysphagia.
