Job Vacancy – Weekend Imam (Part-Time)
The Association of Scottish Muslims (ASM) is seeking a knowledgeable, motivated, and community-focused Imam to join our team at:
Blackhall Mosque, Edinburgh
Broomhouse Mosque, Edinburgh
We are currently recruiting for a Part-Time Weekend Imam role (20+ hours per week).
Role Overview
The successful candidate will play an important role in leading religious services, supporting community activities, and engaging with worshippers across both mosque communities.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Lead daily and weekend prayers as required
- Deliver Khutbahs, lectures, reminders, and Islamic classes
- Provide Islamic guidance and pastoral support to community members
- Teach Quran and basic Islamic studies to children and adults
- Support mosque educational programmes and youth activities
- Participate in community engagement and outreach initiatives
- Assist with Ramadan, Eid, Janazah, and special mosque events
- Work collaboratively with mosque management and volunteers
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Strong Islamic knowledge and understanding of community needs
- Excellent Quran recitation and public speaking skills
- Ability to engage positively with children, youth, and families
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible and supportive towards mosque activities and events
- Organised, reliable, and professional approach
- Must have the legal right to work in the UK
- Based in or willing to work in Edinburgh
