As a General Maintenance Person, you will be essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the Home through your mechanical knowledge and maintenance expertise. Reporting to the Nurse Manager, your role involves performing repairs, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:-
- A genuine interest in promoting independence and life style opportunities for older people as well as being able to work unsupervised.
- Will need to be confident and enthusiastic enough to carry out fault finding and basic repairs to all equipment, for example- catering and laundering machines.
- Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the Care Home and surrounding grounds; ensuring excellent first Impressions to all who visit.
- Ensuring the smooth operation and serviceability of all services such as heating, lighting, plumbing and non-medical equipment required for the safe and efficient operation of the Home.
- Work positively with the Home Manager to achieve outcomes for the longer-term tasks such as refurbishment, non day-to-day servicing, redecoration etc.
- Take an active role in the monitoring of any risk areas regarding the Homes operations and security and advice the Home Manager accordingly.
- Maintain the home as a pleasant, friendly and secure place to live.
- To promote the good reputation of the nursing home at all times.
- To carry out all duties in such a way as to ensure the economic and safe use of resources and equipment.
- To adopt a neat, clean tidy appearance at all times, and wear the appropriate uniform as provided by the Company.
- To maintain the highest level of personal and work cleanliness and hygiene.
- To report all compliments comments and complaints.
- To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages or hazards.
- To check duty rota and sign for actual hours worked.
- To adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures as contained in the appropriate manuals. Become familiar with the contents of the Employee Handbook.
- To attend fire evacuation and instruction sessions twice per year.
- To carry out other duties as will, from time be directed.
- To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard for the health, safety and welfare of self, staff, patients and other persons within the Home.
- To attend a Moving and Handling lecture once per year.
- To attend other training sessions as deemed necessary by the Home
