Job Summary
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for creating, developing, and overseeing the design, testing, and implementation of electrical components for various projects. This role involves working closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that electrical designs meet project requirements, safety standards, and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical System Design
Design and develop electrical systems and circuits, including power distribution, control panels, motor drives, sensor inputs, and communication interfaces.
Create detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams from scratch using CAD software.
Help build prototype systems and demonstrate good practical skills for Production and Service teams to follow.
Specify and select electrical components such as sensors, actuators, power supplies, relays, and circuit breakers to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Integration and Testing
Work closely with mechanical and electronics engineers to integrate electrical designs into complete systems.
Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of electrical components and systems to ensure reliable performance under different operating conditions.
Perform electrical testing and analysis to validate designs, including testing for signal integrity, noise, and preparation for electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing.
Compliance and Documentation
Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality requirements where required (e.g., CE, UKCA, UL and IEC standards for industrial equipment).
Prepare and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials (BOMs),
Collaborate with theQuality team to develop test procedures and quality control measures.
Project Management and Collaboration
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical design, electronics development, and production, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems within the overall printer design. Participate in design reviews, providing input on electrical system performance, safety, and manufacturability.
Support the Production team during the assembly and testing of industrial printers, providing guidance and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
Identify opportunities to improve the electrical design of existing products, focusing on enhancing performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in electrical design to incorporate innovative solutions into new product designs.
Contribute to the development of energy-efficient and sustainable electrical designs for next generation industrial printers.
Other Responsibilities
Occasional travel to customer sites when required.
About You
Compulsory Skills/Education/Experience
Degree / HND in Electrical engineering, or substantial practical experience demonstrating equivalent technical knowledge and competence
5+ years of experience in electrical design engineering.
Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Strong understanding of electrical principles, power systems, motor controls, and PLC integration.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols, and experience with control systems design.
Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards for industrial machinery (e.g., UL, CE, IEC).
Excellent problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Good communication skills and a team-orientated attitude.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
Desirable Skills/Education/Experience
Experience in industrial machinery, printing technology, or a related field.
