Make a Real Difference Every Day
Keswick Care Ltd is a small family owned, Children’s Residential Care provider. www.keswickcare.co.uk. We are proud to work in partnership with the Care Leavers Covenant.
At Keswick Care, we believe every child and young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and valued. We provide nurturing, family-style homes for young people aged 8 – 18 years, who may have experienced trauma, neglect, or family breakdown.
We’re now looking for caring and motivated individuals to join our team as Residential Childcare Support Workers — people who are ready to learn, grow, and help transform the lives of the young people in our care.
If not already qualified you’ll work towards your Level 4 Diploma in Working with Young People and Families, gaining valuable experience and professional qualifications while making a genuine impact every day.
What You’ll Do
As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, stable, and supportive home environment. Your daily work will include:
- Building trusting, positive relationships with children and young people
- Supporting young people with their daily routines, education, and social activities
- Promoting independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem
- Helping young people develop essential life skills and achieve personal goals
- Using trauma-informed approaches to understand and manage behaviour
- Keeping accurate, detailed records of each young person’s progress and experiences
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, social workers, and other professionals
- Ensuring the home environment is warm, welcoming, and compliant with all safeguarding standards
This is a hands-on, emotionally rewarding role where no two days are the same — but every day makes a difference.
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need previous experience in residential care — just the right attitude, compassion, and willingness to learn. We’ll provide all the training and support you need.
Essential qualities:
- A genuine passion for helping children and young people
- Empathy, patience, and emotional resilience
- Willingness to work towards (or currently undertaking) the Level 4 Diploma in Working with Young People and Families
- Ability to work flexibly — including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience working with children or young people (paid or voluntary)
- Knowledge of safeguarding and trauma-informed care
If successful you will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and to provide criminal conviction information.
Requirements for an Enhanced DBS and reference checking will be undertaken in line with government regulations and safer recruitment best practice.
All Keswick Care employees are responsible for promoting equal opportunities for all and for challenging any behaviour or practice which discriminates against any young person or colleague on the grounds of race, religion, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation, or any other perceived difference.
