The Supply Room is currently recruiting on behalf of a supportive school in the GL3 area that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Mentor to support a high-needs pupil on a full-time basis.
While we work with schools across the wider area, this role will be based within one specific school, offering consistency and the opportunity to become a valued part of the school community.
This is a highly rewarding role supporting a child with significant additional needs who requires calm, consistent, and structured support throughout the school day. The school is looking for someone patient, resilient, and proactive, with experience supporting children with SEND and complex behavioural or communication needs.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the pupil feel safe, engaged, and supported both academically and emotionally. Experience working with high-needs SEND pupils, SEMH, autism, ADHD, or trauma-related behaviours would be strongly beneficial.
The Role Will Involve:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a high-needs SEND pupil
- Supporting emotional regulation, communication, and engagement
- Helping the pupil access learning and school routines
- Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
- Using calm, nurturing, and consistent behaviour strategies
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEND or SEMH needs
- A calm, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence supporting pupils with complex or high-level additional needs
- Experience in schools, support work, care, youth work, or mentoring roles
- A psychology, education, or care-related background would be beneficial
Additional Information:
- Full-time role, Monday to Friday
- Immediate start available
- Position is until the end of the academic year, with strong potential to continue beyond this
- Potential temp-to-perm opportunity for the right candidate
- Based within one school placement
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service would be beneficial but is not essential
