Social Worker – Children & Families | Child Protection & Locality Social Work
Location: Inverness / Wick / Fort William / Tain / Sutherland (Highlands)
Pay Rate: £41 – £43 per hour + £100 per week accommodation allowance
Contract Type: Temporary / Locum Social Work Role
Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for experienced Children & Families Social Workers to join a range of locality teams across the Highlands. This is a locum social work opportunity within statutory children’s services, covering child protection, children in need (CIN), and family support work across rural and remote communities.
This role is ideal for an experienced children’s social worker who is confident working autonomously, managing complex caseloads, and delivering high-quality safeguarding and intervention work within a multi-disciplinary setting.
Key Responsibilities – Children’s Social Work / Child Protection
- Manage a caseload of Child Protection, Children in Need (CIN), and Looked After Children cases
- Undertake statutory assessments in line with Scottish social work legislation and guidance
- Develop and implement child protection and family support plans
- Carry out home visits across rural and remote areas within the Highlands
- Work closely with schools, health services, police, and multi-agency safeguarding partners
- Attend child protection case conferences, core groups, and statutory meetings
- Maintain accurate case recordings and documentation in line with local authority standards
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children and families
Essential Requirements – Children’s Social Work Jobs Scotland
- Qualified Social Worker registered with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC)
- Experience within Children & Families social work, including child protection and CIN
- Strong understanding of Scottish child protection legislation and frameworks
- Ability to work independently across rural and dispersed communities
- Excellent communication, assessment, and report writing skills
- Full driving licence is highly desirable due to geographical coverage requirements
Working Pattern
This role offers hybrid working where appropriate, with flexibility considered depending on locality team needs. Accommodation support of £100 per week is available due to the rural nature of the role.
