An East London School is seeking an exceptional, highly organised and people-focused School Admin Lead/ HR Officer to become a key member of their leadership support team.
This is a pivotal role within the school, responsible for leading all administrative operations, managing the school office team, and overseeing the full range of HR processes that support our staff. The school is looking for someone who thrives in a busy environment, has excellent leadership skills, and can balance operational efficiency with a strong commitment to supporting people.
Working closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will ensure the school runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis while helping to create a positive, professional and supportive workplace culture.
Previous school office experience and managing staff is essential for this role.
The Role
As the Admin Lead/ HR Officer you will:
- Lead and manage the school's administrative and reception functions.
- Line manage office and administrative staff, supporting their development and performance.
- Develop and improve systems, processes and procedures to ensure operational excellence.
- Act as the school's HR lead, managing recruitment, onboarding, staff records and employment administration.
- Coordinate safer recruitment processes and maintain compliance with safeguarding requirements.
- Manage staff absence monitoring, contracts, probation reviews and personnel records.
- Support managers with employee relations matters and HR procedures.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, school policies and data protection requirements.
- Work closely with payroll providers and external HR advisers.
- Produce reports and workforce data to support strategic decision-making.
- Serve as a trusted professional contact for staff, parents, governors and external stakeholders.
About You
The successful Admin Lead/ HR Officer will be someone who:
- Has previous experience working in a school office environment at a senior level
- Has previous experience leading staff in a school office environment.
- Has experience of HR administration and managing staff.
- Is an effective leader with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Can build positive relationships while maintaining professional standards.
- Has outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Can manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates discretion when handling confidential information.
- Has strong IT and systems management skills.
- Is proactive, solution-focused and committed to continuous improvement.
