Hours: Flexible, casual / bank basis.
Job type: Casual / bank
About us
We are a well-established group of nurseries operating across South West London and Surrey, including Cranbrook Nurseries, Millie's House, Working Mums Daycare, Castle Nursery and Anglo Spanish Nursery School. Across all our settings we share the same commitment: warm, high quality care and education that gives every child the best possible start.
We are building a bank of flexible, reliable Nursery Practitioners to provide cover across our settings during busy periods, staff absence and holidays. This is an ideal opportunity if you want to work flexibly, fit work around other commitments, gain experience across a variety of settings, or top up your hours while keeping control of your own availability.
About the role
As a bank Nursery Practitioner you will step into our nurseries to provide warm, high quality care and education for the children in your room, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will quickly become part of the team for the day, helping to maintain a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where children feel secure and settled.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the delivery of engaging, child-led activities and experiences
- Helping to maintain ratios and supporting the room team through busy periods, absence and holidays
- Building warm, positive relationships with children and supporting them to play, explore and learn
- Supporting children's care routines, including feeding, nappy changing and rest times, with patience and sensitivity
- Following each setting's policies and procedures, and settling quickly into different teams and environments
- Ensuring all safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are met at all times, in line with EYFS
How bank work works with us
- You tell us your general availability and preferred settings, and we contact you when shifts come up
- There is no obligation to accept any particular shift, and no guaranteed minimum hours
- Shifts can range from a single day's cover to longer blocks, depending on need
- You will be paid by the hour for the time you work
- Bank work is a great route into a permanent role, and we are always happy to talk to bank staff about joining us substantively
About you
We are looking for flexible, dependable practitioners who can settle quickly into a new room. You will have:
- A full and relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification as recognised by the Department for Education (not necessarily necessary).
- A warm, caring and adaptable approach, and a genuine commitment to giving children a great day
- A good understanding of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development
- Reliability, and the flexibility to work across different rooms and settings
- The ability to travel to the settings you choose to be available for
- A paediatric first aid certificate is desirable, though we can support you to gain this
All appointments are subject to our safer recruitment process, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and proof of right to work in the UK.
What we offer
- Competitive hourly rate depending on qualifications and experience
- Genuine flexibility and control over your own availability
- Experience across a range of settings and age groups
- Access to our training and a clear route into permanent roles
