Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Nursery Manager to join our management team oversee the daily operations of our childcare centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring high standards of childcare, and creating a safe, nurturing environment for children. This role requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a passion for early childhood education. The Assistant Nursery Manager will play a vital role in fostering a positive atmosphere that supports children's development and wellbeing.
We are searching for someone who is an outstanding practitioner and who can be an amazing role model to our staff. Experience in management is not however necessary as full training would be given. With this in mind, this position would suit an experienced and knowledgeable practitioner who wants to enter into nursery management.
Part of your time may be spent in the office on a supernumerary basis carrying out management tasks.
YOU MUST HOLD A FULL AND RELEVANT LEVEL 3 OR ABOVE IN CHILDCARE.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise nursery staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality childcare and educational programmes
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with regulatory standards
- Organise daily activities, ensuring they are engaging, age-appropriate, and promote learning
- Maintain effective communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and performance management of nursery staff
- Ensure health and safety regulations are strictly followed and conduct regular risk assessments
- Manage administrative tasks such as record keeping, budgeting, and resource planning
- Foster a warm, welcoming environment that encourages children's social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance nursery services
Experience
- Proven leadership experience within a nursery or early childhood education setting at Room Leader level or above.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
- Extensive knowledge of childcare practices, child development, and relevant regulations
- Experience working directly with children in a childcare or educational environment
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
- Valid driving licence is desirable for transporting supplies or attending external meetings
