About Ablecross
Ablecross is a family-run, CQC-registered domiciliary care provider delivering personal care across Essex, London and Hertfordshire. We're growing — including the launch of our new Southend branch — and we're building a strong middle-management team to grow with us. This is a very fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. This is a chance to step up into a leadership role with real scope and visible impact.
The role
We're looking for an experienced Deputy Care Manager to lead our Care Supervisor team across our London, Brentwood and Southend offices, deputise for the Registered Manager when needed, and work closely with our Quality Manager to keep standards high. Your overarching objective is to help us consistently meet our quality KPIs and deliver care that meets the CQC "Outstanding" standard.
What you'll do
Service delivery and leadership
- Line-manage the Care Supervisor team across branches — supervision, appraisals, performance management and development
- Deputise for the Registered Manager during periods of absence, taking day-to-day operational oversight
- Ensure care delivery runs smoothly across both sites — continuity of visits, coverage and consistent quality
- Coach and develop supervisors to drive consistency and raise standards
- Support rostering, on-call and day-to-day operational decisions
Quality and compliance
- Oversee and quality-check audits carried out by Care Supervisors, making sure actions are completed and closed
- Collate compliance and quality evidence for CQC, local authority contracts and ISO 9001
- Plan and support mock inspections — identifying and closing gaps before they become findings
- Own the complaints process end to end: logging, investigating, responding within timescales, and capturing lessons learned
Care delivery and safeguarding
- Support safe, person-centred care planning and risk assessment
- Respond to and escalate safeguarding concerns and incidents appropriately
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready records across our care systems
What we're looking for (essential)
- Minimum 2 years' supervisory experience in a domiciliary or community care setting
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Adult Care (held or in progress)
- Experience line-managing or coordinating care staff
- Working knowledge of CQC standards, the Care Act 2014, safeguarding adults and the Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Confident with audits, record-keeping and compliance documentation
- Strong communication, organisation and decision-making under pressure
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (essential — the role works across two sites)
Desirable
- Experience supporting CQC inspection or mock inspections
- Experience in reablement care
- Experience in supported living
- ISO 9001 / quality management systems awareness
- Experience with ACCESS
- Experience across multiple sites or branches
Other requirements
- Enhanced DBS check
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to take part in the on-call rota
- Flexibility to work across London, Brentwood and Southend offices
Pay: £32,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
