Purpose of the role:
- To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for children within the nursery environment
- To give support to staff members within the setting
- To work as part of a team to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop and learn
- To build and maintain strong partnerships working with parents to enable children’s needs to be met
Main duties:
- To effectively deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage, in conjunction with other team members, ensuring that the individual needs and interests of children in the setting are met
- To keep records of key children’s development and learning journeys; share celebratory milestones with parents, carers and other key adults in the child’s life to support extended learning at home
- Support all staff closely and engage in a strong staff team that values teamwork and learning from one another
- To effectively safeguard children, report any concerns and monitor any potential risks by using early intervention methods
- To develop and maintain strong partnerships and communication with parents to facilitate day-to-day caring and developmental needs
- To ensure the environment of the high-quality provision meets the needs of all individual children, having an awareness of any disabilities, cultural differences and medical histories
- To advise the setting’s management team of any concerns (e.g. over children, parents, the safety of the environment) maintaining confidentiality as necessary and making ongoing accurate records
- To be involved in out of working hours’ activities, e.g. staff training, meetings, events and other CPD opportunities
- To be flexible within working practices of the setting and undertaking other responsible duties where needed, such as domestic tasks and the preparation of children’s snacks
