About the Role
Working hours are Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm, as required. Each shift includes a 30minute unpaid break.
Support Workers play an important role in helping people make the most of their day. You will lead activities, support individuals with their prescribed therapies, and help ensure each person enjoys a positive and meaningful experience in the service. Because everyone we support has different needs, we look for people who are adaptable, encouraging, and able to bring a positive attitude to each day.
The role involves working with people who have learning disabilities, autism, sensory needs, and a range of health and mobility needs. Personal care is a key part of the job, including assisting people to use the toilet or change continence pads, as well as carrying out manual handling tasks. You will also need to be confident using IT, as you will be required to complete records and undertake mandatory training.
Candidates should have either some relevant experience in care and support or clearly transferable skills. We provide full training and ongoing support to help you carry out the role effectively. Once trained, you will often work independently, with guidance available from the Service Manager and wider team.
Although the role is mainly based at the day service, you may occasionally be asked to work in other areas or attend meetings and training at different locations.
You can expect:
-
A comprehensive induction
-
Training to provide you with the skills and knowledge to perform the role to a high standard and to follow safe working practices
-
Regular supervision with either the Day Service Manager or a Support Co-Ordinator
-
A supportive team environment and rewarding job
About You
