LEAD TECHNICIAN ROLE PROFILE
Belfor provides a comprehensive service for a variety of insurance companies by reinstating their customers’ homes after flood or fire damage. This role is part of a team looking after a dedicated geographical area, and reporting to a Project Manager. A Lead Technician will be responsible for overseeing and executing property restoration and reinstatement projects typically involving water.
ROLE PURPOSE
This role ensures that all work is completed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction, while leading a team of technicians and coordinating with project managers and clients. The incumbent will lead the from the initial mitigation work through to complete renovations. This may, at times, include the management of sub-contractors to supplement the internal workforce. It is envisaged that most of the time will be spent on-site managing the team throughout, solving problems and reporting on progress. The role holder will be expected to survey damaged properties and provide estimates for our clients, as well as initial strip outs, and dryer installations when appropriate.
KEY OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead and manage restoration and reinstatement projects from initiation to completion
Supervise a team of technicians, ensuring smooth workflow and delegating tasks effectively. Conduct site assessments and develop detailed scopes of work.
· Enable seamless project execution through effective scheduling
Develop and hand over work schedules for approved jobs, ensuring field staff have the necessary information to manage delivery efficiently and on time.
· Drive team performance and wellbeing through proactive leadership
Supervise and mentor technicians, providing guidance and support to ensure optimal performance.
· Ensure a safe working environment through rigorous health and safety compliance
Uphold health and safety standards across the unit, ensuring all staff adhere to regulations and practices that minimise risk and promote wellbeing. Ensure timely and efficient execution of work in compliance with industry standards and insurance requirements.
· Optimise delivery capacity through subcontractor management
Manage subcontractor relationships and performance to ensure quality, timeliness, and compliance with contractual and safety requirements.
· Maintain detailed and accurate documentation
Document work performed and maintain accurate records for reporting and compliance.
Mitigate risk through direct liaison with specialist services
Provide oversight for ensuring the internal sub-contracting of Asbestos removal and Leak Detection ensuring timely resolution of issues impacting job progress.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· Proven experience in insurance restoration and reinstatement projects.
· Strong leadership, team management and communication skills.
· Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Proficiency in project planning and execution.
· Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices.

· Physical ability to work in various environments, including confined spaces, to lift heavy objects and to work long hours standing.
· Knowledge of restoration techniques, equipment, asbestos and safety protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Relevant trade qualifications or certifications in restoration, construction, or related fields.
· CILA qualifications, Health and Safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, First Aid) desirable.
· Additional certifications in project management or leadership are advantageous.
· Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
