Housekeeper - Live-In Grade I Listed Country Home, Berkshire (RG7)
Salary up to £36,000 per annum, plus live-in accommodation
We are seeking an experienced, precise, and exceptionally reliable Housekeeper to take sole responsibility for a busy, formal, private household. This hands-on role is ideal for a professional with a proven track record working to exceptionally high standards in comparable settings.
The Dower House is a four-bedroom residence forming part of a Grade I listed country house on a 1,800-acre private estate in Berkshire (RG7). The property is currently undergoing a full renovation. The home is run to an exceptionally clean and organised standard at all times. The successful candidate will maintain a hotel standard finish throughout.
ABOUT THE ROLE
- Housekeeping - Cleaning bathrooms, laundry and ironing, bed-making, dusting and polishing, vacuuming. Cupboard and wardrobe organization, packing and unpacking suitcases, regular deep cleaning. Emptying bins and taking items to the recycling centre as needed.
- Events - Setting up and clearing down for formal and informal events; table presentation. Liaising with and assisting the family’s chef; greeting and looking after guests. Helping with seating plans, flowers and finishing touches.
- Household Administration - Unboxing deliveries, disposing of packaging, shredding confidential papers. Stock-keeping for cleaning supplies and toiletries; household shopping; purchasing household items. Occasional airport pick-up and drop-off.
- Supplies, Contractors & Cooking - Liaising with the PA on booking, managing and paying household contractors. Light cooking, food preparation and assisting the chef at events.
- Outdoor Areas & Vehicles - Keeping garden furniture and outside areas tidy; watering plants in summer; liaising with gardening team. Cleaning three family vehicles, refueling as required, liaising with PA on vehicle appointments.
- Pet Care & Childcare - Daily dog walking, feeding, cleaning up, vet appointments and dog sitting when the family is away. Occasional ad-hoc childminding.
ABOUT YOU
- Highly organized, discreet, with an exceptional eye for detail and a professional, trustworthy approach.
- Proven experience working in a formal, high-standard household, ideally within a listed property or one containing fine art and fabrics.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the confidence and ability to independently manage the entire housekeeping function.
- Enjoys supporting the smooth running of the household during entertainment and events. A genuine dog lover who is comfortable caring for the family's pet.
HOURS & PACKAGE
- Salary up to £36,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Work independently Monday–Friday, alongside a live-out weekend housekeeper (Sat–Sun), a live-in nanny (Mon–Fri), and a live-out PA (Mon–Fri) in a household with three young children and a small dog.
- Live-in accommodation: A spacious 3-bedroom house within the estate gates, with a garage. Additional parking and a private rear garden.
- All bills payable by the employee.
Pay: Up to £36,000.00 per year
