Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner to join our team. This vital role involves providing high-quality care and support to children and young people in a residential setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing environment, implementing care plans, and promoting the overall wellbeing of the children in their care. Responsibilities
- Offer personalised support to children, fostering their emotional and social development
- Review care plans in collaboration with other professionals and families.
- Support children during outings and appointments.
- To assist with the completion of risk assessments, behaviour support plans and missing from care protocols to reflect the needs of each child in our care.
- Audit/Monitor health & safety, and welfare of all and to implement and contribute to the review of these.
- Maintain clear communication with colleagues, families, and external agencies regarding progress and needs.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of children at all times by adhering to health and safety protocols.
- Approving logs and oversight of Clearcare CRM system.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the care team, ensuring consistent delivery of exceptional care standards at all times.
- Complete, review and update personalised care plans to address the unique needs of each child in our care.
- Cultivate a nurturing and encouraging atmosphere that supports the well-being and personal growth of every young person.
- Organise routine team meetings to review progress, address any issues, and develop strategies for ongoing improvement in conjunction with the Manager.
- Keep thorough and up-to-date records detailing each child’s progress, incidents, and any amendments to care plans, risk assessment and behaviour plan.
- Ensure all practices within the home comply with current legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Complete reflective supervisions of allocated staff to encourage continuous professional development.
- Engage in key work sessions, activity planning, and daily routines.
- Support the manager with audits, reports, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with daily activities such as meal preparation, personal care, and organisation of leisure activities.

Experience
- Proven experience working with children or young people in a residential or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of child development principles and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience developing and implementing care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with children, families, colleagues, and external agencies.
- IT literacy for maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Driving experience is desirable to facilitate outings and appointments; a valid driving licence is preferred but not essential.
