Job Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable Truck Driver to join our family run haulage company. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of goods across various routes, ensuring all cargo is transported securely and efficiently. The position involves operating curtain side lorries with tail lifts and requires adherence to all relevant road safety regulations. nights out will be required, on average 1-2 per week.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with safety standards
- Load and unload cargo, ensuring it is secured properly during transit
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding schedules and delivery statuses
- Adhere strictly to driving regulations, including hours of service, speed limits, and weight restrictions
- Report any vehicle issues or accidents promptly to the appropriate authorities and management
- Assist with route planning to optimise efficiency and fuel consumption
- London experience
Experience
- Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of driving regulations and safety procedures in the UK
- Experience in handling curtain side loads, including securing cargo safely for transit
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating heavy goods vehicles (HGV) with relevant categories (e.g., C+E)
- Familiarity with route planning software or GPS systems is advantageous
- A strong commitment to safe driving practices and excellent time management skills
- Ideally have London experience
- Must have experience in operating a tail-lift
