Deputy Home Manager – Children and Young People
Location: Stevenage
Salary: £33,665 – £34,881 per annum DOE plus additional sleep-in payments
An extra £3,250 – £6,500 per year for sleep-ins
Hours: Full time, working long day shifts with occasional sleep-ins
Requirements: Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Role overview
Make every day EPIC for children and young people in residential care with our client. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager or a Senior Residential Support Worker ready for the next step, joining a brand-new home opening in Stevenage in January 2026.
As Deputy Home Manager, you will be a key part of a supportive regional leadership team across seven children’s homes, within a growing national organisation that encourages creativity, autonomy and positive change. You will help shape a therapeutic model of care focused on language that cares, reducing restraint and delivering consistent, child-centred support.
What you’ll be doing
- Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of a new children’s home.
- Leading, coaching and developing a staff team to deliver high-quality, therapeutic care.
- Taking an active role in a 7-home regional leadership team, influencing practice and culture.
- Managing rotas, budgets and compliance with Ofsted regulations and safeguarding procedures.
- Stepping up to manage the home in the Registered Manager’s absence.
You will be supported to work towards Level 5 and to take on additional responsibilities, building the skills and confidence to progress into future leadership roles. The aim is for every member of the team to feel supported to be the best version of themselves so that children in care can thrive.

What you need
- At least 2 years’ experience in a Residential Children’s Home, at Senior or Deputy level.
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience managing budgets and staff rotas.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
- A child-centred, resilient and proactive approach, with the ability to lead by example.
