HGV Technician (Days or Nights)
Location: Thrapston
Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum
Shifts: Day or Night shifts available
Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our team in Thrapston. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual looking for a well-paid position with flexibility to work either day or night shifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a fleet of heavy goods vehicles and trailers to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and trailers
- Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and carry out effective repairs
- Perform brake testing, relining, and general mechanical work
- Conduct vehicle inspections in line with DVSA standards
- Complete MOT preparation work
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed
- Attend breakdowns when required
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with health and safety regulations
- Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician or Fitter
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems
- Experience using diagnostic systems (e.g. WABCO, Knorr-Bremse, Jaltest preferred)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Full UK driving licence (Class 1 desirable but not essential)
- Relevant qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent preferred)
