We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Post-16 Employment, Education and Training (EET) Advisor to support looked-after children and care leavers aged 16–25 in achieving positive education, training and employment outcomes.
In this rewarding role, you will work closely with young people, social workers, education providers and partner agencies to ensure that every young person has access to high-quality education and training opportunities that support their aspirations and long-term success. You will play a key role in developing, monitoring and reviewing Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and ensuring they are effectively integrated within Pathway Plans to promote progression and achievement.
You will provide tailored advice, guidance and practical support to help young people access and sustain participation in further education, higher education, apprenticeships, training and employment. Working with those who may be at risk of becoming, or who are currently, Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET), you will deliver targeted interventions that help overcome barriers and improve outcomes.
The successful candidate will build strong relationships with colleges, universities, training providers, employers and voluntary sector organisations to identify and secure suitable opportunities for young people, including those placed outside the borough. You will also ensure young people understand and can access the financial support and entitlements available to them, helping to remove barriers to participation and progression.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for looked-after children and care leavers.
You will have experience of working with vulnerable young people aged 16–25 and a proven ability to support their progression into education, employment and training. Experience of working directly with children in care and care leavers is essential, alongside a strong understanding of the challenges they may face when accessing and sustaining learning and employment opportunities.
You will be confident working within multi-agency environments, building effective relationships with professionals, education providers, employers and partner organisations to ensure young people receive the support they need. You will be able to influence planning, advocate on behalf of young people and appropriately challenge provision where it does not meet their needs or statutory requirements.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to monitor progress, analyse participation and develop targeted interventions that support positive long-term outcomes. Experience of providing information, advice and guidance to young people and adults, including those over the age of 19, would be advantageous.
You will have a sound understanding of relevant legislation and guidance, including responsibilities relating to looked-after children and care leavers, Personal Education Plans (PEPs), Pathway Plans, post-16 education and training pathways, and the financial support available to young people. An understanding of attachment, trauma-informed practice and barriers to participation is also essential.
You will hold a Level 4 qualification in Advice and Guidance, Learning Development and Support Services, Careers Guidance, or an equivalent relevant professional qualification. The ability to travel within and outside the borough on a regular basis is required.
