We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chef Manager for a Primary School in Catcliffe to lead the team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional food quality and service. This role involves overseeing daily kitchen operations, managing food production, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. The Chef Manager will play a pivotal role in maintaining high standards of hospitality and fostering a positive team environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and assistants
- Oversee food preparation and presentation to ensure consistency and quality standards are met
- Manage food production schedules to meet operational demands efficiently
- Lead menu planning in collaboration with the management team, incorporating innovative dishes and seasonal ingredients
- Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and maintain high standards of hygiene across all kitchen areas
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies, and manage stock control to minimise waste
- Train and mentor team members to develop their culinary skills and promote a cohesive work environment
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in accordance with health and safety legislation
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery during busy periods
- Assist in the development of staff schedules to optimise staffing levels while controlling labour costs
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety practices
- Demonstrable team management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop staff effectively
- Previous experience working in hospitality or restaurant settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of current trends in cuisine as well as traditional cooking techniques
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and management
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and safety in accordance with regulations
- Formal culinary qualifications or equivalent experience in a senior kitchen role is preferred
Pay: £12.85 per hour
