About the Role
An experienced and professional Housekeeper is required to join a small, dedicated team on a private country estate. The role involves maintaining the main family home as well asseveral beautifully presented guest properties across the estate, ensuring all are kept to exceptionally high standards.
The successful candidate will take pride in creating immaculate, welcoming homes for the family and their guests. This is a varied role that requires proactivity, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be joining a small, professional, and supportive estate team, all committed to maintaining the highest standards across the estate.
This is alive-in position, with a two-bedroom cottage on the estate provided. The usual working pattern is five days per week, Monday–Friday, with flexibility when the family orguests are in residence.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining exceptionally high housekeeping and cleaning standards across the main home and guest properties
- Working closely with a small estate team to ensure the smooth running of the homes
- Taking a proactive approach to housekeeping, identifying tasks that need attention and maintaining an organised environment
- Acting as a key holder for certain properties on the estate
- Liaising with tradespeople and external contractors when required
- Monitoring household supplies and keeping housekeeping areas organised and well stocked
- Purchasing certain household items and cleaning supplies when required, ensuring thoughtful and cost-effective purchasing
- Care of fine fabrics, linens and delicate garments, including laundry and wardrobe management
- Confident caring for high-end finishes, antiques, specialist surfaces and delicate furnishings
- Maintaining good security awareness when opening and closing properties, and acting as a trusted key holder
- Supporting health & safety standards across all properties
- Greeting and assisting family members and guests in a professional and discreet manner
- Assisting with the preparation of properties ahead of family visits and guests
- Reporting maintenance issues or property concerns promptly to the Estate Manager
- Maintaining the highest levels of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality at all times
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in private households or estates preferred, although candidates with 5-star hotel or similar high-end housekeeping experience will also be considered
- Exceptional attention to detail with very high cleaning standards
- Proactive, reliable and self-motivated
- Able to work both independently and as part of a small team
- Comfortable liaising with contractors and service providers
- Trustworthy and discreet, with a clear understanding of privacy within a private residence
- Full UK driving licence required and confidence driving on rural roads and around the estate
- Right to work in the UK required
- Well organised with good communication skills
