Registered Manager – Children's Residential Home (EBD Emergency Placements)
Location: Selly Oak, Birmingham
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum + Performance/Ofsted Bonus

New Home Opening – Registered Manager Required
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Registered Manager to lead the registration, opening and operational management of a new 2-bed Children's Residential Home specialising in Emergency Placements for children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This is a unique opportunity to shape a service from the ground up and work alongside a provider committed to delivering high-quality, trauma-informed care, safeguarding excellence and innovative educational support.
Essential Requirements (Applicants Must Meet All Criteria)
- Minimum 3 years' experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager within an Ofsted-regulated Children's Residential Home.
- Previous experience successfully managing children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and complex needs.
- Experience opening, mobilising, registering or significantly developing a new children's residential home.
- Proven experience managing emergency and crisis placements.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards and Ofsted requirements.
- Demonstrable understanding and implementation of trauma-informed practice.
- Experience supporting children who are disengaged from education, at risk of exploitation, placement breakdown or school refusal.
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and experience managing high-risk incidents.
- Experience building and leading residential teams through recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management.
- Excellent communication and partnership working skills with local authorities, social workers, education providers and external professionals.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Enhanced DBS suitable for working with children.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Lead the home through Ofsted registration and operational launch.
- Develop and maintain an outstanding safeguarding culture.
- Manage emergency and planned admissions.
- Build and lead a stable, high-performing staff team.
- Ensure full compliance with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
- Manage staffing, budgets and operational performance.
- Promote positive outcomes in education, health, independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Establish strong relationships with commissioning teams and local authorities.
- Drive continuous improvement and prepare the service for positive Ofsted outcomes.
About the Service
The home is a newly developed 2-bed EBD service located in Selly Oak, Birmingham. The service has been designed to support children requiring emergency and planned placements, with a focus on stability, safeguarding, education and therapeutic support.
The organisation is committed to innovation and will incorporate educational technology, digital learning opportunities and structured engagement programmes to improve outcomes for children who have struggled within traditional educational settings.
