Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary experience, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee kitchen operations, supervise staff, and contribute to creating memorable dining experiences. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen activities, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and supporting the development of innovative menus. Previous experience in a similar role within a busy restaurant environment is essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, including chefs and kitchen assistants
- Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure high-quality standards are met
- Maintain strict adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations at all times. (Food hygiene Level 3) including allergen control within a commercial kitchen is also preferable
- Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely serving of dishes and customer satisfaction
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with stock ordering, and minimise waste
- Support the training and development of team members to enhance skills and efficiency
- Ensure all dishes are prepared according to specified recipes and presentation standards
- Contribute to menu planning, including developing new dishes and seasonal offerings
- Uphold a positive working environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and hospitality
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen or restaurant setting
- Extensive food production knowledge with expertise in food preparation and cooking techniques
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team
- Excellent understanding of food safety standards and regulations
- Solid experience in hospitality, particularly within restaurant environments
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Good organisational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Effective communication skills to liaise with team members and front-of-house staff
- A passion for culinary excellence coupled with creativity in menu development
