This is an exciting role for an experienced and enthusiastic Research Nurse to join the Sussex Commercial Research Delivery Network hosted by University hospitals Sussex (UHSx) NHS Foundation Trust.
Commercial Research Delivery Centres were established in 2025 to enhance the UK's position in the global clinical research landscape. The main objectives of CRDCs are to increase participation and retention in to commercial trials, to enhance the speed and efficiency of commercial research set up and delivery and to increase inclusion in research by enabling delivery in community settings and ensuring all communities have access to research opportunities.
Research is at the heart of the values of UHSx. All the hospitals within the Trust host research delivery teams. UHSx is internationally recognised for excellence in the care of patients with cancer, cardiac conditions, infectious diseases, neuroscience, paediatrics and critical care and this links to research strengths. Consequently, the CRDC is diverse and made up of predominantly phase 2 and 3 trials.
The successful candidate will be based at T he Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton but could be required to work at any of UHSx’s hospitals and in the future, some community institutions in Sussex (i.e. pharmacies, GP practices and Community Diagnostic Centres). They will be an experienced research nurse who can work autonomously, offering advice and support to less experienced research staff. The post holder will be able to demonstrate a high level of co-ordination and effective communication skills to ensure the smooth running of research delivery.
Required skills and knowledge:
- Prior Research Nurse experience
- Clinical Governance and GCP knowledge
- Current driving licence and car
- Venepuncture and IV skills
Desirable skills and knowledge:
- Experience of cancer or haematology nursing
