A fantastic special educational needs school for ages 8-14 in Bristol, near Warmley, is looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to join their expert team. The school caters for children and young people with social and emotional mental health difficulties and Autism, offering them a bespoke educational programme and positive behaviour support.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a truly therapeutic environment where their dedicated in-house therapy team work seamlessly with education staff to provide meaningful packages of support that enables children and young people to reach their individual potential.
The role would be a combination of supporting small class sizes of 6 - 9 children and 1:1 work, therefore being flexible and proactive is key. The roles are demanding but very rewarding. You will be required to use a reflective approach to learners, their learning and needs and be able to work creatively and proactively. Emotional resilience and an ability to engage learners is a must.
This school has fantastic opportunities for professional development & and will provide continuous support from the Senior Leadership Team. Pay can be up to £120 a day, depending on experience and if you can impress during a paid trial, which the school is more than happy to arrange to give you a real taste. Experience is by no means required, so this is a great opportunity if you’re looking to kick start a career in special education or just develop your existing skills further.
The school’s hours of this role are 8.30am - 4pm.
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should:
- Have experience or a passion for working with children with SEN
- Be flexible, proactive and patient
- Be nurturing and caring in your approaches
- Be able to communicate effectively within a team
- Be open to providing personal care
- Have a Background in Education, Care, Psychology or Drama, as these are very transferable.
