Housing First Support Worker
Working across Southampton
£14.28 p/h
Monday to Friday 0900-1700 with the availability of working weekends as well.
One of our clients are looking for experienced Housing First Workers.
You will be working with people who are experiencing homelessness and rough sleeping who face many challenges. This is a key role in which you will be supporting clients and helping them progress and achieve their goals.
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Provide one-to-one keywork sessions to support clients in recovery from homelessness, addiction, or mental health challenges.
· Develop and review individual support and recovery plans tailored to each client’s goals and needs.
· Help clients build skills for independent living, such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and managing tenancy responsibilities.
· Encourage motivation and personal development through strength-based approaches.
· Support clients to access and engage with health, substance misuse, and wellbeing responsibilities.
· Working flexibly across all areas of operation where required and prior notice given.
· Being the first welcoming friendly face for people coming into the service.
· Providing informal support to clients and be a listening ear.
· Dealing with any incidents that may arise and contact external services when necessary.
· Working in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and policy procedure.
· Providing basic First Aid assistance until help arrives – Full training provided.
· Linking in with outreach workers and other agencies to build rapport and trust with clients who are homeless in preparation for them getting their own accommodation.
Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Valid online DBS for Adults and Children is desired
· Previous experience within a similar role is not essential however you must have a real passion for wanting to work with people who are homeless.
· Knowledge of the benefits system and tenancy legislation.
· Having an interest and genuine concern for homelessness and related issues
· Knowledge of best practice in supporting people with drug/alcohol and/or mental health issues, including realistic harm reduction approaches.
Driving licence and access to a car with business insurance is essential!
