The IT Technician will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operation of ICT systems across a group of schools, ensuring staff and pupils can make effective use of technology for teaching, learning, and administration. Based primarily at four main schools in Gravesend, the post holder will also provide occasional support to a further four schools in the Dartford area. Working as part of a wider IT team, the role combines hands-on technical support with a friendly, customer-focused approach.

- Permanent role, Monday–Friday (40 hours/week)

Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-line deskside support for hardware, software, and AV equipment across the school.
- Log, manage, and resolve IT support tickets using the service desk system, escalating issues where necessary.
- Diagnose and repair common hardware and software faults on PCs, laptops, tablets, projectors, interactive whiteboards, and printers.
- Maintain and support network connections, wireless systems, and remote access platforms to ensure reliable and secure access for users.
- Install, configure, and deploy hardware and software in line with school policies, licensing agreements, and security standards.
- Support staff and pupils in the use of Google Workspace, educational applications, and administrative systems.
- Help implement and maintain IT security measures, including antivirus software, firewalls, and user permissions, ensuring compliance with GDPR and e-safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate IT asset records, including inventories, asset tagging, and tracking of equipment and consumables.
- Assist with IT-related projects such as equipment upgrades, software rollouts, and system deployments.
- Provide friendly, clear technical guidance and basic training to staff and pupils to help them make effective use of technology.
- Support teaching and learning by providing in-class technical assistance when required.
- Ensure safe and environmentally responsible disposal of old or damaged equipment.
Essential Requirements
- 1+ year working as an IT Technician in a school or college
- British passport (to pass an enhanced DBS check)
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Good communication skills, working and communicating with senior leadership teams and vendors.
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Positive, professional, and proactive attitude
- Strong experience working with Google/Microsoft environments
Desirable Skills
- Experience with Google Workspace/Chromebooks
- Familiarity with interactive whiteboards/screens
- Confidence managing wireless, filtering, and security systems
- Relevant ICT qualifications and willingness to train further
