We are part of the Express Engineering Group who employ more than 300 employees across the two companies, Express Engineering (Gateshead) and Express Engineering (Fabrications) (trading as QA Weld Tech).
We have a vacancy for a Welding labourer to support the Welding Team with the day-to-day workflow in the Weld production team.
The main duties of the role includes:
- Cleaning and preparing metal components before welding.
- Pre-heat components when required to the desired temperature.
- Operating and maintaining the Forklift truck to provide support loading and unloading the weld rigs.
- Recording component weights before and after welding to ensure correct wire usage.
- Help keep the welding department clean and organised.
- Assisting with welding machine cleaning and routine maintenance.
- Supporting welders with day-to-day production tasks.
- Following health and safety procedures at all times.
- As with all positions, due to the nature and varying demands of our business, the responsibilities and tasks are not limited to this overview and may change to meet future demands.
To be considered for the role you should have:
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, or manufacturing workshop.
- Basic knowledge of welding processes and equipment is beneficial.
- Ability to use hand and power tools.
- Valid FLT licence is desirable.
- Be computer literate.
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and housekeeping skills.
