The Council Operations Department currently employs over 500 people and provides services to all residents across Swindon, including over 10,000 of our own properties.
We now have apprenticeship opportunities available for enthusiastic people who are keen to get started in their career.
This is a fixed term contract in accordance with the length of the apprenticeship.
You will need:
- Minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade 3 or above including maths and English
- Good communication skills – both written and verbal
- Good interpersonal skills
- The ability to work as part of a team
- A flexible approach to work
- A professional approach and presentable in appearance
- Ability to learn and to apply knowledge in a practical setting
- Willingness to learn to drive - hold at least a provisional driving licence, or will obtain a provisional driving licence upon appointment
- Can demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Carry out repairs to the fabric of the building for example walls doors, doorframes, skirting boards or plaster damage to internal walls.
- Understand the importance of customer service
- Demonstrate and understand the control of resources and stock
- To attain apprenticeship level 2 in Property Maintenance
The successful candidate will;
- Have a passion for learning
- Some experience of dealing with the public
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people
- Shows a basic understanding of the work of the relevant trade
- Understand the importance of customer service
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
