Seven Resourcing is recruiting an experienced Independent Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join a specialist substance misuse and recovery service in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified clinician with prescribing authority to work within a multidisciplinary team supporting individuals with drug and alcohol dependencies, including complex and high-risk cases.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering recovery-focused clinical interventions, contributing to prescribing clinics, and supporting harm reduction and treatment pathways for service users within community and outreach settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning for service users.
- Initiate, review, and adjust prescriptions for opiate substitute treatments, alcohol detoxification, and related medications within scope of practice.
- Deliver evidence-based prescribing in line with national and local clinical guidelines.
- Assess suitability for inpatient detoxification and other specialist interventions.
- Monitor and review treatment plans to ensure clinical effectiveness and safety.
- Provide advice and information to service users on medication, side effects, and treatment options.
- Work closely with recovery coordinators and multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated care.
- Respond to complex, urgent, or emergency clinical situations and escalate appropriately.
- Support BBV screening, vaccination, and wider health promotion initiatives.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical records.
- Contribute to clinical governance, audits, and service evaluation activities.
- Participate in prescribing clinics and act as a point of contact for prescribing-related queries.
- Provide specialist input into multi-agency care planning and safeguarding processes.
- Support outreach delivery across community settings including hostels, shelters, and accommodation services.
Requirements
- Current NMC or GPhC registration.
- Qualification as a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP).
- Minimum 2–3 years post-qualification clinical experience (depending on profession).
- At least 1 year of experience working within substance misuse services.
- Strong understanding of prescribing practice, harm reduction, and recovery models.
- Experience working with complex service users, including those with drug and alcohol dependency.
- Ability to conduct clinical assessments and develop treatment plans independently.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, and vulnerable adult support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Competence in clinical documentation, audit, and governance processes.
- Ability to work flexibly, including outreach and community-based work.
