SA is partnering with a global media agency focused on challenger brands. Founded in 2002, the organisation operates across the UK, the US, Singapore, China, Australia, Spain, and Prague, and employs over 1,000 people worldwide. The business specialises in data analytics, brand strategy, and integrated communications.
Technology-led, the organisation has recently implemented a bespoke ERP landscape in the UK, with Maconomy as the core finance platform and Deltek WorkBook supporting project delivery. They are now seeking a Systems Accountant to take full ownership of the finance systems, with a focus on process optimisation, system configuration, and continuous improvement. The role will be responsible for maintaining data integrity and financial controls across the ERP, while ensuring business-as-usual activity runs smoothly and reliably.
This role sits in the finance team, reporting to the Deputy CFO but works closely with the IT ERP team and acts as the bridge between Finance, IT, and the wider business.
Responsibilities:
ERP & Financial Systems
– Serve as the finance systems lead and primary expert for the Maconomy ERP.
– Own the configuration and maintenance of chart of accounts, dimensions, job structures, and currency rate tables.
– Oversee the Unionpoint integration layer connecting Maconomy with WorkBook.
– Ensure robust financial controls, approval frameworks, and audit trails are consistently applied.
– Support the setup and optimisation of core finance modules including GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, and Projects.
– Create, maintain, and evolve financial process documentation, embedding system controls and workflows.
Business Support & User Enablement
– Provide day-to-day system support to finance and project teams using Maconomy.
Troubleshoot and resolve integration issues, errors, and system failures
– Investigate and correct posting issues, WIP challenges, billing variances, and data inconsistencies.
– Act as the primary liaison with Deltek support teams and third-party vendors.
– Support month-end close activities including revenue recognition, WIP, accruals, allocations, and reconciliations.
– Perform routine system health checks to maintain data quality, control effectiveness, and audit compliance.
– Develop and maintain user documentation, guidance materials, and training resources.
– Deliver system training and ongoing support to finance users.
Reporting & Data
– Collaborate with data teams to design data models and deliver Power BI reporting covering project performance, margins, utilisation, and recoverability.
– Maintain and enhance Maconomy SAP BusinessObjects reporting.
– Support finance stakeholders with data extraction and the creation of ad hoc management reports.
Change & Project Delivery
– Act as the finance lead on Maconomy initiatives, including deployments across international locations.
– Support ERP upgrades, patches, and the rollout of new functionality.
– Manage finance-related change requests across Maconomy and Unionpoint, ensuring appropriate governance and controls.
– Lead finance user acceptance testing (UAT) for system enhancements and releases.
Process Improvement
– Identify and drive opportunities to standardise, automate, and strengthen finance processes and controls within the ERP.
– Work closely with Finance, IT, and operational teams to translate business requirements into effective system solutions. Improve project setup, job lifecycle management, and billing workflows to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Skills & Experience
– Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
– Strong hands-on experience working with ERP platforms.
– Solid understanding of end-to-end finance processes and internal controls.
– Background in systems, finance transformation, or change-focused roles.
– Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder communication skills.
– Highly detail-oriented with a strong governance and control mindset.
– Comfortable operating at the intersection of finance and technology.
