About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Royston is seeking a dedicated and adaptable KS4 Teacher to join their secondary team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people with a range of additional and complex needs as they prepare for adulthood, independence, and future pathways.
The role involves working with pupils in Key Stage 4 with needs including Autism (ASC), SEMH, SLD, communication difficulties, and associated behavioural needs. The school focuses on creating a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment tailored to individual student needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for KS4 SEN learners
- Support students with academic progress, independence, and emotional development
- Adapt learning materials and teaching strategies to meet individual EHCP outcomes
- Create a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Support behaviour regulation using consistent and positive approaches
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and SEN professionals
- Prepare students for life skills, employability, and post-16 pathways
- Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Experience teaching within KS3/KS4 or SEN settings
- Strong behaviour management and differentiation skills
- Ability to support pupils with complex learning and emotional needs
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
- Experience within a specialist SEN or alternative provision setting
- Knowledge of ASC, SEMH, and trauma-informed approaches
- Experience delivering functional skills or vocational learning

Pay: £190.31-£321.51 per day
