Job Description
To manage activities, monitor and progress of all production projects within department to ensure they are delivered to the correct specification and within the agreed timescales and budgets.
Objectives
Following schedules to maintain delivery dates
Being able to cross trade when needed
Ability to inspect products for fit, form and function requirements
Able to suggest improved methodology relating to all mechanical assembles
Motivate staff to achieve departmental and personal objectives
Understand company values & help achieve them
Ensure staff work to the correct standards and procedures
Develop and encourage teamwork and participation
Forward planning to make sure projects follow schedules
Develop, encourage and apply mechanical engineering principles; identify, analyse and solve complex engineering problems, ensuring practical and cost-effective solutions.
To ensure that all mechanical systems, products and components meet quality standards through testing and validation
Maintain standards for Health and Safety within department
Take responsibility to ensure that the company's environmental policies are enforced in full.
To reduce the frequency and severity of workplace accidents by implementing comprehensive safety programs and promoting safe behaviours.
Qualifications/Experience
Experience of leading a production team within a similar project environment
Ability to coach and develop other members of staff
Capable of working with customers and staff at all levels
Ability to motivate others who are not direct reports
Ability to generate a positive project and team ethos
Ability to work independently abroad for current customers
Experienced in Lathe & Mill operator
Proven experience in Marine Industry
Knowledge or experience with engines
Understanding of technical mechanical drawings
