The Role
We are looking for an experienced Finance Team Lead to join our finance function in Belfast. This is a hands-on role at the heart of the business, responsible for owning core finance processes and providing second-line support across the team. You will help produce monthly management reports, run commission calculations, support the annual audit, and step up to provide leadership in the finance function supporting the the FD.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants genuine ownership within a small, high-performing team at a fast-growing technology business. You will line-manage one direct report (Finance Assistant) and work closely with the Finance Director.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations
- Act as second-line support for finance queries, resolving issues and escalating where necessary
- Own and execute the monthly bill run end-to-end, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Calculate, verify, and process partner commissions and staff commissions each month
- Maintain accurate ledger records and support bank and nominal reconciliations
Reporting & Management Accounts
- Assist in production of monthly management reports for review by the FD and SLT
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and supporting commentary
- Support cash flow monitoring and provide accurate financial data to the FD as required
Audit & Compliance
- Lead on annual audit preparation, acting as the primary contact for auditors and coordinating the provision of supporting information
- Ensure financial records are maintained to audit-ready standard throughout the year
- Support statutory reporting and regulatory compliance requirements as directed
Team Leadership
- Line-manage and develop one Finance Assistant, providing day-to-day guidance and performance support
- Lead the finance function in the FD’s absence, maintaining continuity and escalating where required
- Contribute to process improvement and help build scalable finance operations as the business grows
Essential Criteria
- AAT qualified or part-qualified (or proven equivalent experience)
- Demonstrable experience in a finance role covering management reporting and month-end processes
- Experience producing or assisting in the preparation of management accounts
- Experience handling commission calculations or similarly complex, recurring finance processes
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and accounting software — Xero and/or QuickBooks preferred
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively across departments and with external stakeholders
- Self-sufficient and able to take ownership of processes with minimal supervision
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supporting or coordinating an external audit
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience
- Background in a fast-growth SME, SaaS, or technology business
- Currently studying toward or interested in progressing to CIMA or ACCA qualification
Pay: £32,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
