Role and Responsibilities:
· Preparation and submission of accurate monthly accounts to B&M Group by working day 2 each month, along with supplementary information required
· Posting of all required accounting entries for accruals, stock, fixed assets, hire purchase leases etc. in the Sage50 system and reconciliation of all balance sheet codes on a monthly basis
· Safeguarding of company assets by ensuring appropriate processes and controls are in place and adhered to, especially with regard to cash
· Monitoring of the aged debtors list and working with the Accounts Assistant to ensure any overdue debts are followed and collected
· Supporting the business with financial analysis as and when required by the management team, to help drive performance
· Preparation of the fortnightly payroll and liaison with the 3rd party payroll support provider to ensure all employees are paid correctly and on a timely basis. Ensuring payments to HMRC, pension companies etc are made promptly
· Monitoring of accounts assistant holiday allowances and monitoring company holiday buy back scheme· Preparation and submission of annual P11D’s
· Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
· Administration of the bank accounts. Payment of suppliers and other required partied, including FX transactions
· Liaison with professional advisors to ensure the statutory accounts and corporation tax returns are accurate and submitted in a timely fashion
· Organise and oversee stock takes on a periodic basis
· Line manager responsibility for the Accounts Assistant, as well as cover when they are on vacation or otherwise
· Preparation of the annual budget for the B&M Group, as well as any other forecasts required, including cash flow
· Participation in ad hoc projects to further align the AFG financial processes with those of B&M Group
· Developing close relationships with the business to ensure Overhead spend is captured, recorded and forecasted on a timely basis
· Analysis of slow moving stock
· Gross margin analysis by customer
· Be the ERP champion for AFG, ensuring users are fully educated and aware of best practice for all the various transaction types (sales, purchases, credit notes, stock transfers, stock adjustments)
· Develop automated reports within the group reporting system (Phocas) to provide the commercial teams with easy to access and understand business performance information
· Be the primary contact for credit insurance matters both with external broker and internal sales team
· Prepare board slides including financial information in collaboration with the managing director
· Responsible for monitoring company KPI’s and preparation of daily financial information for the group
· Be responsible for review and approval of staff expenditure
· Business partner with sales and production to increase financial understanding and transparency
