Are you passionate about empowering young people to achieve independence and reach their full potential? If so, we’re looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team, providing leadership, guidance, and person-centred support to young people in our care.
As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in ensuring high-quality, individualised support for young people, while leading and motivating a team of support staff. You’ll model best practice, coordinate care, and create a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where every young person can thrive.
What You’ll be doing
- Lead, coach, and support staff to deliver excellent, person-centred care whilst upholding safeguarding and health & safety standards.
- Support young people to develop independent living skills and make positive life choices.
- Create and maintain detailed support plans, risk assessments, and progress reports.
- Promote the voices, goals, and aspirations of young people in all aspects of their support.
- Manage the rotas ensuring effective staff coverage.
- Liaise with social workers, health, education, and community partners to achieve shared outcomes.
- Foster a homely, inclusive, and safe environment for young people and staff.
What you’ll bring to the role
You’re a confident leader with empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for making a difference in young people’s lives. You believe in inclusion, equality, and empowerment — and you lead by example. To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- An NVQ/QCF Level 3 qualification in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent — or willingness to complete within 18 months.
- Experience supporting young people or individuals with complex needs.
- Supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, health & safety, and social care frameworks (Ofsted, CQC).
- IT Proficiency (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to travel independently to various sites in South Birmingham.
